Especially unemployed persons over the age of 50 have serious problems finding an employment in the first labour market. To improve the chances for employment of older workers the employment pact “MainArbeit Offenbach”/”ARGE Groß-Gerau” was set up. It started its second phase within the framework of the federal project “Perspective 50plus” at the beginning of 2008. The implementation of the strategies of integration of the employment pact is carried out through different sub-projects. The Institute for Economics, Labour and Culture (IWAK) analyses in this context the developments and chances of the different activities which have taken place since the beginning of the project in 2006. As part of this process the enterprises in the greater area of Offenbach are asked questions about their attitude towards older workers and about their experiences with this target group. Furthermore, this research aims at collecting data about the potential for placement of older workers and at increasing awareness by the enterprises for this subject.
