Dr. Angela Joost studied sociology, cultural anthropology and political science at the Goethe University Frankfurt/Main. She gained her doctorate in sociology with an empirical study on women’s biographies in Eastern Germany. Her main research areas are labour market research, especially in the elderly care and health sector, social conflict and social learning processes. She has worked on research projects with different topics, has relevant experience in qualitative research methods, the biographical approach and the combining of different research methods.

Since 2007 Angela Joost is a senior researcher at the IWAK. She is in charge of the division Health and Care.
