Regional Monitoring

The implementation and application of methods for obtaining data is an elemental component of all IWAK research activities. Over the years, various instruments of empirical (social) research have been utilized in the areas of professional training, health care research and prognoses.

Complementing these cross-sectional functions, the professional application of surveys and methods are a focus within the IWAK. One core task is here the execution and analysis of representative enterprise surveys on the themes of labour market and employment; such as, for example, the IAB Enterprise Panel and the IWAK’s own Business Survey in the Rhine-Main Region.

This emphasis extends its focus into the development and application of elaborate methods for longitudinal analysis. This is to improve the results from these periodically generated data stores and to generate the corresponding publications. Further working interests include the developing area of electronic survey instruments, extending the systematic coupling of quantitative and qualitative methods, as well as the development of further thematic competencies.
