The demographic changes in society lead not only to an increasing number of elderly persons needing care, but also to a rising need of trained personnel in the care and assistance occupations. At the same time, the necessary skills are changing for many of the occupations in the health and care sectors. In this context, IWAK generates regularly current and future-oriented labour market and employment data through a monitoring system. This system shows at regional and national levels the match, or mis-match, of the occupational supply and demand for doctors and nursing care professionals. Supplementing this data are dedicated assessments of occupational education and advanced training situations and needs. With the shift in preference from stationary to ambulatory care, domestic services in care and assistance for elderly persons are gaining in significance. IWAK studies the domestic household as a labour market segment. It evaluates the approaches and labour market political developments at the national and European level, as well as the efforts to optimize these in guidance to integrated health welfare. A further emphasis is the analysis of professional biographies and progressions of various occupational groups in the health and care sectors. IWAK examines the objective conditions and subjective motives for occupational qualification, mobility and fluctuation. This is used to make predictive estimates of future needs in the field.Available Competencies:
